Green Track focuses on tracking the progress of sustainability objectives, understanding their varying success across different project phases, and identifying accountability. Its goal is to manage risks and learn from past mistakes, employing a system that graphically presents project statuses in relation to both vision and implementation.
Seventh Semester
Innovation project : Green Track (Concept Idea)
The framework is designed to view sustainability in a comprehensive manner, demonstrating how smaller initiatives can contribute to larger sustainable development goals. Essentially, GreenTrack aims to lay the groundwork for a sustainability plan, sparking meaningful dialogue and thoughtful action in the construction projects.
Grade: 12
How did the idea to develop GreenTrack come about?
The concept of GreenTrack was largely shaped by my experiences during my internship at CREO Arkitekter A/S and subsequent dissertation research. At CREO, I observed a significant gap: while the importance of sustainability was recognized, there was a notable lack of knowledge and practical application of sustainable methods. Extending my research into the broader market, similar trends were apparent, particularly in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). This underscored the need for a systematic approach to embedding sustainability in construction projects.

GreenTrack was designed as a direct response to these identified challenges.
It offers a streamlined, intuitive interface that demystifies the sustainability process for clients, making it more accessible and understandable.
By simplifying complex concepts, GreenTrack enhances client engagement and comprehension of the long-term benefits of sustainable construction.
A distinctive feature of GreenTrack is its capacity to monitor the sustainability progress across different project phases.
This functionality not only facilitates real-time tracking and communication of sustainability achievements but also provides a platform for reflection and learning.
By analyzing past projects, GreenTrack helps identify areas of improvement, allowing us to learn from previous experiences and avoid repeating mistakes.
Additionally, GreenTrack serves as a centralized hub of coherent and actionable sustainability knowledge. It can serve as the basis for a sustainability plan, opening doors to a meaningful dialogue about long-term value, not just immediate costs.
Addressing the Challenges
The Værdibyg guide titled “Bæredygtighedsledelse,” highlights the necessity of a well-organized sustainability plan. However, creating such a plan can be daunting when there is insufficient understanding of sustainable practices. The assumption that sustainable project initiatives will drive up costs often overshadows the opportunity to consider a more holistic, long-term approach focusing on profitability and value creation.
The visual setup and structure of these guidelines also make it hard for clients to grasp the sustainability process in simple, understandable terms.
